A hard thought

While in tuition today, during a very very boring ecology class, few things passed through my mind...

I realised that nature have ways to overcome the almost impossible.. for example, mangrove trees... They live in a mangrove swamp of course... but that place is muddy and the water there are salty. And as you all know, too much salt is toxic to organism. So what those plants do is they have modified xylem vessels that excrete salt collected at the edge of the blade of their leaves.. their root cells are adapted to live in salty water by storing salt mineral in their vacuole. this makes the cell isotonic to the surrounding water. this prevents physiological drought when water diffuses out of the root cells due to the hypertonic nature of the sea water.

Since it's a swamp, it is exposed to the sea tides where at high tides the banks would be submerged and at low tides the banks will be exposed.. This plants develop pneumatophores which allow the roots to practically breath through lenticels formed there...

The seedlings form the radicle while still hanging from the trees... they show viviparity since their young develops while they are still attached to their parents... This ensures the survival of the mangrove plant in their natural environment.

See that? nature has all kinds of ways to overcome the almost impossible... so why can't I overcome the impossible of doing well in my maths...

well? actually this is a filler post as i don't really know what to blog about for the first time..

everything i wanted to blog right now is seriously personal and i don't think it's right to blog it here.. so nvm lah... let it sink and sediment somewhere in my heart..
